Le prieuré de la Salle et la paroisse de Nancras

Fondé au milieu du XIVe siècle, le prieuré de La Salle et la « ville » de Nancras constituèrent durant trois siècles une seigneurie indépendante appartenant à l’abbaye de Sablonceaux. Sa localisation, à cheval sur les paroisses de Sablonceaux et de Corme-Royal fut une source de conflits permanents avec la prieure de Corme.

From the middle of the 14^th century onwards, and for more than three hundred years, the La Salle Priory and the “township” of Nancras were to make up an independent institution belonging to Sablonceaux Abbey. However, as its territory also infringed on the parish of Corme-Royal, this awkward situation led to endless conflicts with the Corme priory authorities.
